Here I Stand Luther 500 Colloquium (Kenosha, WI)

The Luther 500 Taskforce invites you to the Here I Stand Luther 500 Colloquium at Carthage College on October 20-21, 2017. The main speakers are:

  • the Rev. Dr. Anna Madsen, Ph. D., owner of OMG Center for Theological Conversation and theologian in residence at the Spent Dandelion Retreat Center in Two Harbors, Minnesota

  • the Rev. Dr. Andrea Ng’weshemi, Ph, D., who holds the Jerald C. Brauer Chair of Lutheran Studies at Carthage College

During our time together, we will look ahead to the next 500 years and what it will mean to be in our current context in the Midwest, where churches are struggling and from the perspective of the global South, where churches are thriving.

Martin Luther lived in a day of profound political, social and theological tension and from his context gave the world a new theological viewpoint through Word Alone, Faith Alone and Grace Alone. These Reformation words continue to shape us, yet we are in a new time and place and it may be time for us to rethink Reformation.

Cone join in the conversation on Friday night (Oct. 20), which we will model after Luther’s Table Talks with his students. Saturday (Oct 21) will include both lecture and time for conversation at A.F. Siebert Chapel, a banquet lunch and a closing worship.

The event fee is $35 per person. (Register here.)The Kenosha area has many options for housing, including downtown and along Highway 50 by Interstate 94. Registration will be available online starting this summer.
