Good Shephered Reformation Grove tree planting (Decorah, IA)

A Good Shepherd Reformation Grove is being planted to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Since 1517, trees have been planted or otherwise played a special role to honor Martin Luther. On October 28, the entire congregation is being invited to plant several mini groves of trees on its extensive property. Some of these trees will form a meditation grove behind the church suitable for worship, contemplation and play. Others will replace dying Ash trees and form borders along the church property. Individual members may purchase trees at a reduced rate if they wish to plant a tree on their own personal property. All labor will be provided by church members led by professional landscape designers. The project will provide energy efficiency benefits as well as education and advocacy.
