Re-visioning Reformation in Asia

Event Date: Wed, February 1, 2017 - Thu, February 2, 2017
Location: 9th Asian Lutheran International Conference (ALIC) (View on Map)

The theme of the conference is Re-Visioning Reformation in Asia, corresponding to the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation started in 1517. The conference will focus on the significance and impact of Reformation on Asian Christianity, and revision the Reformation in Asian contexts. It will take place in Medan, Indonesia with the opening worship taking place on February 1 and the program held February 2.  The conference will be hosted by Lutheran churches in Indonesia.

ALIC is a network that emerged out of the AAPI-ELCA, and is a partnership of the ELCA Asian community and ELCA Congregational and Synodical Mission unit; and ELCA Global Mission unit. Because of cultural and linguistic bonds, the AAPI-ELCA and other Asian leaders in the United States and Asia decided that having a conference from time to time would be a good way to engage in theological and ministerial reflection relevant to their cultural backgrounds and ministries; to strengthen their networking; and to have fellowship.

ALIC also provides a continuing education opportunity not only for Asians, but also for non-Asian participants who attend. We expect 120 participants at this conference, including 50 young adults from ELCA and Asia. And there will be a Young Adult Track gathering before the conference.

Come and learn Asian ministry firsthand.
