Reformation Service with Bach Ensemble (Louisville, KY)

First Lutheran Church and the South Central Conference of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in conjunction with Thrivent Financial and the Louisville chapter of the American Guild of Organists will observe the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with Bach Vespers on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 417 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY.

The service of prayer and music will feature the Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Ohio, conducted by Dr. Carlson Monroe, performing the Bach cantata, Ein Feste Burg is Unser Gott, BWV 80. The service celebrates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and the theological contributions of Martin Luther. This cantata, particularly, honors Luther’s hymn-writing contributions.
