Midland Lutheran Church begins Reformation celebration (Midland, TX)

In observation of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Midland Lutheran Church will host a film series beginning Sept. 9. The films will begin at 6 p.m. and there will be discussion afterward. Guests may bring potluck snacks.

The Reformation began Oct. 31, 1517, with the publication of Martin Luther’s “Ninety-Five Theses” urging changes in the Catholic Church; it ultimately led to the beginning of the Lutheran movement.

The films being shown are:

Sept. 9 | “Luther” (2003)

Oct. 14 | “Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World” (2017)

Nov. 11 | “Rick Steves’ Luther and the Reformation” (2017)

Jan. 13 | “The Morning Star of Wittenberg: The Life of Katie Luther” (2006)

Feb. 10 | “Hanged on a Twisted Cross: The Life, Convictions and Martyrdom of Dietrich Bonheoeffer” (1996)
